I want to know how to show pop up on click of a button.is this possible? if yes how?

Also i have only one page created in php and have four js for that, where to place the js files , how to call that js file and is only one php page is enough?is there any function already created for it? i have seen for the popup images but cannot find for a particular pop page calling on a click of a button.

I want to know:
1. where to place js files?
2. how to call the js files?
3. Is one page of php enough? if yes where to place that? If no, how many to create and where to place those pages?
4. Are functions already created for the page pop up ,if yes which one is that? If no where can get the function for that or what coding is needed for it?

You need to study the main_page.tpl.php page for answers for questions 1-3.

Question 4 - have a look at how popup windows are used around the cart in product_info.tpl.php (for the large image popups) and in the checkout_payment.tpl.php pages for coupon information.
