Hello,

While attempting to add new products, it appears as if I'm experiencing some delay in the Admin area of the site. The "add new product page" will load succinctly up until the "English" table w/ WSIWYG editor. This area appears just after the "Quantity Price Breaks" table. We recently applied an EV SSL certificate to the site... but I'm weary that this is causing the issue because the front end of the site loads just fine. It is true, though, that this issue just appeared recently (after the certificate was installed).

Also, the database hasn't grown abruptly on a large scale, either.

Thanks in advance!
Justin

Sure, https checks will slow down page loading, especially if every page in your admin is going through https. They don't all have to - various files will show which are using SSL and which aren't (eg /admin/inc/boxes - check any in there to see SSL / NONSSL.)

The other unfortunately thing in admin that can kill pageload speed is the call to the adserver, which Cre uses to promo various addons and news items in the admin pages. I wrote a short blog here about deactivating a couple of the calls:

Simon,

Is it possible that I don't have that location in my my site files (/admin/inc/boxes)? I'd like to find that first and foremost because I don't think this is related to the adserver (although in the last resort I'll definitely check that out).

Thanks a ton!
Justin

You don't have which location - admin/includes/boxes ? Can't see how that would affect pageload - if it was missing you wouldn't get any left hand column in the admin, and that'd make loading (and the error message) a lot faster.

Try disabling https:// in admin/includes/configure.php - make the first 5 lines start https:// and set 2 ssl lines to 'false.' If the admin loads normally then, you've found the problem and need to check what the ev ssl is doing.
(eg is it looking for the green icon file that it needs to load the green address bar, and the file is missing, for example)?

I tried what you suggested and it didn't appear to have any considerable effect on the speed of the particular part of the admin panel that's giving me problems. But thank you for that advice anyway!

Essentially, the admin works fine (quickly) with the exception of one such page...

https://www.theosustore.com/admin/categories.php?cPath=1_42&action=new_product&osCAdminID=MYADMINID

This is the New Product page... only the first few fields load quickly. The rest take a considerable amount of time to get on the page.

Thanks in advance!

Take a look at what it's loading: the main drag on pageloads is usually media - images probably in this case.
One of the small but annoying issues of cre is that they load all the product images when you go to create a new product. 6.4.2 has a switch, but as you're back on 6.2 ... it'd need a mod.
