Hello, I love the creloaded software though the templates provided are awful. As a newbie, lack of knowledge in regards to html, leaves alone dealing with php files and codes in regards to editing. Just a thought, it would be nice to have a decent template implemented and allow the user to just change the logo, be able to center the shop and the info box images, able to change the buttons color. I browse around on the web searching for the creloaded 6.2 version templates, either I cannot find the design I like or the ones that I prefer, it's too expensive. I think if you can provide this service for newbie, I personally don't mind to pay for a minimal fee.

change the logo

Go to templates/yourtemplate/images folder and upload a new logo.gif.

Quote:
center the shop

In admin, under templates configuration, set the width to whatever you like that isnt 100% and it will center

Quote:
change the buttons colour

Download the contents of the templates/your template/images/buttons/languags/english folder. Change colours in favourite graphics editor, save them, reupload.

Obviously for all the above, replace [your template] with the name of the template you have activated on your site.

However, for more detailed amendments to the template, you are goping to have at least a basic knowledge of html. Sorry, but to mend a car you need to know how to use a spanner, some things cant be short-cutted.

Best of luck ;)

Hello, thank you kindly for your reply and the tips. It took me a good few days of pulling my hair, thus I had already managed the above mentioned tasks prior to receiving your reply. I agree with you in learning the basic knowledge of html and I'm doing it everyday as I am creating the site. Though I still wish that the Creloaded team can design a few good templates and sell them for a minimal fee ($25) for the user who wishes to buy. The reasons are: 1) I know the coding on the templates are good, 2) Easy & prompt service access when you buy directly from the developer because they know what they are doing, 3) Updates are no longer a fret because of fear of damaging your site (which I had done that in the past). I bought a template service and when it comes to the time of updating a new version, I destroyed my site and start it again from the ground up. That's the main reason I do not care to buy the template from elsewhere except it is comes from creloaded. I hope my message gets across to the developer/designer team. Thanks again.

HI, I know what you are saying, but developing a good quality template obviously takes time, and supporting that template through upgrades et-al is a hard task. Asking for people to do this and then charge $25 is, to be frank, asking for the moon on a stick. The CRELoaded team include 4 template sint he base release, which should give any site owner a decent start. Any templates that were offered at the price you suggest would eithe rbe rubbish, or be used on thousands of sites, making them next to useless, as the whole point of atemplate is to give your website a unique identity - if its used by thousands, you have no uniqueness.

I hope that makes sense to you, and I have no intention of causing offence, but sometimes the community at large expect everything handed to them on a plate for no (or minimal) charge, and unfortunately everybody in the world has to earn a living, and of course the intention is to help get users set up and running with thriving businesses. However everything has a price, and a template at $25 is going to be worth approximately $25 - i.e. not a lot.

I understand your point completely and I agree. When I said $25 means a starting point and of course, the more complex design of a template, the higher price tag. And you are right, nothing is free! Here, I use the standard creloaded version and unable to remove the google ads at the footer. Are all of those ads credited to the creloaded team8O ?

I have 6.2 running on a test site and can't actually get the other templates supplied up to have a look at - they come up blank. Also it would be helpful to have a list of changes as I have an old 6.1 template on my current live site which won't work with 6.2 - and I have no idea what the image requested in the admin screen is, as the gif I created and named wasn't accepted!

Any ideas about the first problem greatly accepted...the second I will post in a different area.
Thanks

Hi I purchased a template that included Cre-loaded. I am thinking about creating a new site and I will like to use a basic red and black color scheme, that is different from my existing website. Where can I find the basic cre-loaded skins? WIll oscommerce skins work with cre-loaded?

no, oscommerce skins wont work with creloaded, and when looking for creloaded templates, ensure you look for the correct version, else you will run into difficulties. Whacking CRE templates or creloaded templates into a search engine will do you quite well, but its worth drilling down the results to get a good variety. You will find a number of sites duplicating the templates of the main 3 providers under affiliate schemes etc, but there are plenty of other providers who offer a smaller, but more varied range.

As with any system, if you find a template you really like but which isnt for CRE, it may pay you to either learn or pay someone to customise it for cre....a lot depends on your budget, tiem constraints and tastes

as far as modules, they are always free at www.oscommerce.com most are simple copy and paste, others require code porting to creloaded

I am planning on listing all contribs which are simple plugin to cre with no mods, anybody want to send me pms with ones you've done without ANY changes from the install instructions, please let me know by PM. Any with minor tweaks required will also be listed, with what those tweaks are...and for the sceptics out theree, both these lists will be FREE.

This will then help me to narrow down which ones need working on so that I can concentrate on those contribs. If you have a wishlist of contributions to be ported, let me know too, so I can prioritise my time!
