I just recently did a soft launch of my site so that google would index my pages, but it is not completed. I am having problems with my carousel displaying images and am finding it to be a PITA. I need suggestions on what could replace the carousel. I was thinking about a flash "featured products" area, but am clueless on where to get something like that. Example (www.marinedepot.com) Also, please tell me what you think of the site.

One Stop Aquarium

Thanks

from a user/designer aspect.. your header is about 3 times the size that it should be

most all content and nav is below the fold (down past the bottom of the screen.. rarely should one need to scroll for all actions..

I would dump the header completely
You can easily fit your existing logo, header nav bar, currency selection, and a search box in a header not much taller than your logo (from the water image up)

It shouldn't be too difficult to put in a sliding products on the main page.. either via a side infobox or in the main content area..

like what is now standard in 6.3 latest products as seen here (right side vertical scroll)

In my experience, rarely do these boxes do much of any good, besides distracting the shopper.. and adding a slight load time (depending on your images)

flash has its purpose, but not in the typical e-commerce store

The biggest help on design and features would be to find the largest, most successful site related to your product line, Aquariums.. I doubt you will see any sliding/scrolling marquee, flash, or other distractions.. simple sells... and you want as few obstacles between the visitor, their wallet, and the checkout confirmation button

I do like the quality of your product images.
On the category listings.. you may want to assign different style to the more info, reviews, and add to cart links.. perhaps buttons

probably could use more content on each product page.. as that will never hurt you
