Can anyone help, im not sure if multiple categories is the best way of describing it im looking to sell Whiskey online and i want to have them by different selectable types (like categories) that run down the sides. There would need to be several categories (pref controlled by infoboxes) and would all be controllable inputs from the backend when creating each product....i hope this makes sense
I have tried to give an Example

AGE
10 years old
20 years old
30 years old

PRICE
Upto £30
Upto £60
Upto £100

REGION
Scottish
Irish

These above owuld be the categories.

Can anyone tell me if this is a mod or a contribution that can be applied easily or am i going to have to get someone to custom code it ? i would really appreciate any help or advice

Cre would handle cats and sub cats of these out of the box BUT seo wise you'd end up with duplicate content as each product would have several urls. A cart like magento could handle this no problem using attributes. So I reckon custom coding, with a close look at a url rewriter too to make it work in cre.

just to note we dont want duplicate products we just want different category methods for selecting products if that makes sense

I don't think we're on the same wavelength here - the attributes you list in the OP are just that - attributes. If you were going to make categories out of them it would assume that each product was only defined by that 1 attribute, and that doesn't sound right to me. You're selling a bottle of 10 year old Irish whiskey for under £60 right? So there's 3 'categories' that one product would be in for a start.

Price category - well you have the 'Shop by Price' dropdown selector that can do that, regardless of what category the product is in. Region and Age could be Extra Fields or in the product description ... basically these are quite specific criteria - attributes - to use for categories. Whereas 'Single Malt' - that'd be a category.

Perhaps check out how other whiskey sellers present their stock?
