We operate an online store in BC, Canada. One of the hardest things for us is to find E-Commerce applications that support both the Federal GST and the Provincial Sales Tax. If OS Commerce does if you could explain how easily is it administered.

We did this once for a customer in CA. Bear with me...

In my expereince, you need to create a tax zone with all states in for one of the taxes and create anotehr tax zone for the state you are in for the local one, or that one state you have to have the extra tax in :)

does that make sense?

Hi,
I really appreciate your response on this. The problem is that there is also a federal tax applied to sales to Canadians on top of the Provincial Tax and then to complicate matters some products are exempt. I wonder if I have to create two tax tables one that applies the GST to all Canadian Provinces and then a separate one to apply the PST to British Columbian addresses.

Sorry for the confusion Salvatore but I think we are talking about the same thing. Which install do you recommend the straight OSCommerce or one of the derivatives.
