I really hope for some help and a solution to my problem.

Im about to open a online shop. I need to add 5500 products using Easy Populate. Just to make it easier, I've created a test shop with a clean CRE Loaded6 v6.2 Pro[11] installation.

I've been reading all over det forum, and can't find a solution to my problem. This is what I've done.

1. Made a clean installation of the shop
2. Add'ed a test product in a category called "Main Category"
3. Opended "Data Manager" -> "EPA Export"
4. Pushed "start file creation" without changing anything for a full backup.
5. Saved the file "EPA2007Nov07-2109.txt" on my desktop
6. Opened the file in Excel and saved it as a .csv file.
7. Deleted the test category and product to see if my backup works.
8. Opened "Data Manager" -> EPA Import -> Upload EP File for Import
File uploaded.
Temporary filename: /tmp/phpNfXnlO
User filename: EPA2007Nov07-2109.csv
Size: 1026
9. Found the file in "Import Data from file in temp/" and pushed Insert into DB.
Inserting local file: Filename: EPA2007Nov07-2109.csv

And then nothing is happening. The test product I've made is not there.
Can anyone tell me what Im doing wrong?

I am having exactly the same problem. Any help will be appreciated.

Again... Similar problem here... EPA does not update products, works with Basic, but this clears out the product added date.

What are we missing here?

Edited EPA or EPB file should be saved as tab delimited file i.e Text(Tab delimited). This is the default setting in the epconfigure file.

Look and see if the ep instructions are in the docs folder; used to be there and it will help explain how to use epa or epb.

Wish it was as simple as renaming to EPA or saving as .txt (tab delimited). It looks like the products insert into the database fine, but does not add or update anything. There is this error ("Error 03 - No products_id field in record or it is the last line in the file. This line was not imported. "), but assume its just because of the last line.

I've scoured the internet for an answer & can't seem to find it.
Anything else?? Any advice appreciated!

Oki, Ive tried some things the last couple of days.

I have to websites running osCommerce. The servers are exactly the same.

I have as above mentioned installed CRE Loaded osCommcerce on the first server, and that didn't work.

On the other one i installed the newest osCommerce free version and added the newest Easy Populate. And that worked!

Is seems to be a problem with the CRE install. I bought my CRE with a template. Can i download a clean CRE install without the theme somewhere?

OK I see a common trend here...

I bought a template & it seems ridden with bugs. Trying to get support from the site bought from, is hopeless. I'm purchasing a legit version of cre loaded pro today. Lesson learned, stay away from full installations on template bundles.

A few changed were made in the procedure, but result is still the same:
No success with easy populate.

I than tried than to download 1 file, delete just 1 product, than upload the modified file: no success either.

Here is the procedure I've used.

1. Made a clean installation of the shop v6.2 std[11]
2. Added a few test products in different categories
3. Opended "Data Manager" -> "EPA Export"
4. Pushed "start file creation" without changing anything for a full backup.
(Range available: 1 to 41 Total n. of record 31)
5. Saved the file "EPA2007Nov07-2109.txt" on my desktop
6. Opened the file in Excel starting at ROW 1 as, delimited, TAB, GENERAL .txt file.
7. ONLY operation in Excel: deleted one full line (one test product) to see if my backup works. (in Excel first column is v_product_id, first line is for labels, there is no blank line, after delete are now 30 products: 1-28 39 41)
8. Saved the file in Excel as a tab delimited .txt file.
9. Opened "Data Manager" -> EPA Import 3.01-> Upload EP File for Import
10. Browsed for file named: EPA1007Dec31-1212
11. pushed INSERT INTO DB
9. Found the file in "Import Data from file in temp/" and pushed Insert into DB.

Got this result:

No change noted neither in shop nor in admin
Product was not deleted in Category

Can anyone tell me what Im doing wrong?

If your objective is to delete a product, then deleting the row in your easy populate file is not how to do it.

You are suppose to put 'delete' in the v_action row for the particular product you want to delete. Note 'delete', all lower case without the qoute.

easy populate is really easy to use once you get to understand it!

Did not know deleting worked that way.

So this time I tried to add 1 product to the existing "trial shop".

Here is the procedure I've used to add it using EPA 3.01

3. Opended "Data Manager" -> "EPA Export"
4. Pushed "start file creation" without changing anything for a full backup.
(Range available: 1 to 41 Total n. of record 31)
5. Saved the file "EPA2008jan02-1604.txt" on my desktop
6. Opened the file in Excel starting at ROW 1 as, delimited, TAB, GENERAL .txt file.
7. ONLY operation in Excel: added (line 32) 1 full line (1 test product).
(in Excel file : first column is v_product_id, first line is for labels, there is no blank line, after aditional line there are now 32 products: 1-28 39 41 0) The new line was given a value of "0" in column "v-product_id"
8. Saved the file in Excel as a tab delimited .txt file.
9. Opened "Data Manager" -> EPA Import 3.01-> Upload EP File for Import
10. Browsed for file named: EPA2008Jan02-1604
11. pushed INSERT INTO DB
9. Found the file in "Import Data from file in temp/" and pushed Insert into DB.

Got this result:

After this I also tried to delete one article, following the described procedure. No success either.
