Hi, Could someone tell exactly what these order status mean (Pending, Processing, Delivered, Paypal Processing, Allow Download, On Hold, Canceled, Awaiting CC Processing, Abandoned Shopping Cart), and when the admin of the shopping cart need to set/change between these order status? Any of these status are set automatically by the CRE Loaded?

they mean exactly what they mean to you

they are just text values and the only want that has any different meaning to the cart is allow download (which triggers allow download of files that may be attached to any product in that order)

if you look at your payment modules, you can set default values.. ie paypal processing, pending etc

then as the admin/store owner, then you process an order, send it to shipping, or know its been delivered you set the order status accordingly.. in the order page

You can also add/edit these to your needs in
admin - localization - order status

I suggest adding a sent to shipping, and shipped status..

And when you update an order, this new status will be emailed to the customer

Thanks again, Jason. What I have now is that a customer put a product in shopping cart. Form admin, I see its status is "Pending". Now, the user has completed Paypal transition. The status is still "Pending". Now, what do I need to do the status changes as store admin? The product is a download.

I am very much a beginner. When to change to "Processing"? When to change to "Delivered"? "Paypal Processing"? "Allow Download"? "On Hold"? "Canceled"? "Awaiting CC Processing"? "Abandoned Shopping Cart"?

if you are sure paypal payment is complete, change the order status to allow download.. they will then be able to download the product if they created an account

the order status are just, the status of the order.. you select, or have the payment module do so, but with paypal, you want them all to show as pending until you verify that payment has been made.. at which time YOU change the order status as it fits the order

processing would be a time when you are processing the order.. it hasn't shipped, been delivered, or match any of the other status

i have something to add here, why does the order status stay pending even if they pay with paypal. shouldnt paypal IPN be able to reply back to the sore and update the status to paid or success or what not? i was told on phone by the salesman that this was the case, your software worked with paypal to update status on the orders. i am having this issue with the free cart i was using and probably would have stayed with a free cart if your pay for cart is not smarter then it. so question is, can paypal and cre not communicate together to change the status from pending to paid, i have about 2k orders next week to ship, surely i dont have to manually tell cre that the order was paid do i?

that is exactly what paypal ipn does

But you the store owner needs to configure the order status in the paypal module itself
pending is default (and that needs to stay)
all the others can be changed to whatever you like, provided you have those status defined in admin- localization - order status

set the other to paypal paid, processing whatever you desire

BUT they will only automatically update when the IPN works

so we point ipn to the /ipn.php file? what is this files permissions need to be set at and is there any configuring to the php file we need to do? thanks for the fast reply

no, the cart/paypal do/does that automatically

BUT it only works when paypal is able, or wants to, talk to your server

if you have no paypal transaction details on the order page, or nothign in the IPN page, then you have other issues

also help with this. here are the options i can change in the paypal config.

Set Pending Notification Status
Set Order Status
Set On Hold Order Status
Set Refunded Order Status
Set Canceled Order Status

of course we know that the on hold refunded and canceled are for, so in the order status do i change it to the paypal paid, i mean which of these options is the one that updates when paypal reports the item paid for?

so your telling me not to set up IPN inside of paypal?

leave the pending as pending.. as the orders show in admin as soon as they click away from your site (and even if they never pay)

or you could change it to paypal processing/awaiting payment
then you would know to at least investigate those orders

but with paypal, you really want to confirm EVERY order that comes thru via paypal

correct... but doesn't really matter as paypal gets the ipn information from the url.. when the customer pays

ok so i leave the set order status pending, but what will it change to once its paid at paypal? or does it stay pending? i want it to automaticaly update to paid, just dont know how to do that. there is no way i can manually do 2k of them when i ship these new products out. also, why does the system not cancel a order form if you never finish the order at paypal, if someone has a problem with paypal and do another order, they end up with multiple orders in the cart and start bugging me cause they think they paid 5 times lol, thanks.

no, you change
Set Order Status to whatever you want to show once paid

then when paypal hits your ipn file, magic happens

ok thanks a ton, trying to get a tester out there to test it for me now and see if it works, but what about all the extra invoices people have it they didnt complete the process? anyway for it not to create those, or i will just have to remove them myself
