Hi im upgrading my cart from 6.2 to 6.4, when it attemps to copy the database over i am getting the following message;

1064 - You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near '-myshopd' at line 1

SHOW TABLES FROM web43-myshopd

I contacted my host and he has answered the below reply

'Thanks for your ticket. This is an issue with the coding of the script not sending properly-formed SQL - because of the dash in the db name it appears it's not being parsed properly. This should have been placed inside quotes - are you able to contact the script authors about this?'

So here i am, not sure what to do next, any idea's ?

many thanks

Mark

Hi Mark, sounds like you are using Heart internet bud, slightly unusual in that they have actually given you a sensible answer for once. OK, what you need to do is one of the following:

1: if you are happy to delve into code, you need to go into the upgrade script and find the section where your new db connection is established, and wrap the db_name in quotes.
2: if you arent happy to delve, ask me nicely and drop me a line, ill sort it out for you.

Hope that helps.

Hi, I am having the same problem but I don't know where to go to edit, can someone help?

I have 6.2pro with a SQL 4 database and I am trying to run the 6.4 upgrade with an empty SQL 5 database and getting the same 1064 error message!

Any help or pointers appreciated.

Stewart
