 Post subject: Restrict Product sales to being shipped to Specific States.

I need to be allow to restrict specific products or product categories to only be allowed to be shipped to specific states and cities that I specify. i.e. I can sell product A to state B, but can't sell to state C.

I know this is more then likely custom job, but need some help being pointed in the right direction.

Nah, you can use the misnamed Tax Zones and hook up the areas you want to sell to via that.

However you 're not going to stop people from States C-Z from adding the products to their cart and getting frustrated when they go to check out, so you'd need disclaimers all over the restricted products info pages themselves. Bit messy. And when you think about it, what's preventing friend from State B getting it delivered then s/he mailing it on to State C?

Thanks Simon,

That's what I was thinking. It's really up to them if they want to ship it to another state and then ship it to them. I would not be doing anything wrong at the point as long as I send to the allowed state. I will be changing over to Paypal pro, I know I can just block entire state via paypal.

Is there a way to setup the shopping cart so that it stays in pending status until I approve it manually? This would prevent it so I would not have to issue a refund and just stop in on the admin side?

By default orders through the cart are on pending until you manually change them (to processing etc.)
If an order has gone through to the admin, they've paid, unless you're using a bank transfer, cod or money check type payment. Depends on your payment method and how you want to use statuses.
