Normally the quickest way to get past that error is to dump the sessions table via phpMyAdmin or similar DB interface. If you need specifics let me know

I'm also getting this same error. It occurs about once a month and when it does, we get bombarded by 20-50 emails indicating a error attempting to add to the sessions table:

They seem to come in groups and the sesskey seems to change from one group to the next. Its almost like its retrieving a session then trying to re-write it as a new session. There were only 512 entries in the sessions table during this current error event, so its unlikely it was just a random occurrence.

Clearing out the sessions table does stop the error temporarily, but the question is why is it occurring. It seems to originate in several modules (i.e. shopping_cart.php, login.php, contact_us.php, popup_image.php etc.)

An actual error chain occurs first at:
/includes/functions/database.php:43 then rolls up to
/includes/functions/database.php:60
/includes/functions/sessions.php:51
/includes/application_bottom.php:14
/featured_products.php:168

I think the common ground for these two reports is that each session id contains cruft.

Look at the end of each of them. The first one ends with 'modules.php' and the second one with %20%27 - which translates to a space and an a.

What I think is happening here is a series of rapid hits from off site links which have embedded session id's and perhaps some cruft in the anchor, or even an attempt at injecting something into the sql.

While they fail, they do trigger the reports.

Check the access logs. Suspect these sites are being probed.
