I can't believe that this hasn't been asked before but I searched on this forum and on oscommerce site for contribs but I couldn't find anything.....

Is there something that works so that you enter a code and it adds a specified product to the cart? Preferably by checking to see if another product or product group is in the cart already?

I envision it so that I would advertise "Purchase item(s) XXX and get a free YYY just use code ZZZZ at checkout".

OR even when they add one of the products and another product is automatically added to the cart too.

Any guidance / thoughts / ideas would be appreciated.

There are several listed on the oscommerce site that might answer some of the questions you've got here.

This guy for example sells all sorts of buy 1 get 1 free modules and is listed in the oscommerce contribs:

Entering a code and it adds a product to the cart doesn't sound very intuitive, as coupons are for discounts after you've chosen a product, but I assume you mean the buy 1 get 1 free angle again.

The more I think about it I would like to have it automatically add the free product when the person add the product that gets the free product.....

I tried the better together contrib and it shows and works (had to fix a problem that was discussed on his support page first) for adding a product but I really would like to have it add the product automatically when they add the first product.

Searching still but using the better together contrib until I find better.....

This is also a problem for me. At my company, we actually have a sales dept, and a marketing dept. We need to be able to track sales by marketing promotion codes and salesman ID. I was forced to write a separate code system that works outside the store. You come to our site, enter the code in a box, and buy that product for what ever price/discount assigned. But I'd much rather have it as part of the store
