Hi,
Have just ported a client's site onto a new host, and have been tidying up the settings that changed as a result of the move.

One of the settings giving me grief is the dreaded "downloadable products directory does not exist" error. I've edited both includes/configure.php and admin/includes/configure.php. I believe the permissions of both files have been set appropriately to 444.

What I'm noticing is that the identified directory, "/download/" doesn't change in response to my changes in the config files.
'Warning: The downloadable products directory does not exist: /download/.'

Any thoughts on why or where the identified file wouldn't be updating?

Cheers,
Dan

This warning (like others) would be triggered from the admin/includes/warnings.php.
Basically for the /download folder to be 'missing' 2 conditions would exist:
1. the permissions are wrong - it can't be written to
2. you have downloads set as 'true' in admin >> configuration

Sort 1 or both of those things out, the warning should go.

So I've turned off downloads for the client's store, and as expected that's removed the warning.

I'm mindful that this solution doesn't really address the underlying issue: Let's rephrase the concern... I've been updating the Download directory setting in the configure.php files, and the yellow warning in the admin section always says the '/download/' directory does not exist. Doesn't matter what I've got in the configure.php file - it's always the same directory being identified in the warning message.

So check the 1. permissions on the /download folder- would have to be writable (like /images)
