HI

I want to restrict certain left side column page of admin to the customers. Can i do that? If yes then how?

You mean only display the Customers/Orders box in the lefthand column in the Admin?
Edit the Administrator permissions in Admin >> Administrator >> Admin Group / File Permissions and Menu File Access and reduce to just this box.

no i want certain groups to be present. Configuration, administration should be hidden from customers. do u have any solution for it?

Why would customers be in your Admin panel, Jyothi?
Anyway, you would have to create a new admin group (presumably called 'Customers') and then remove access to the areas you didn't want that group to see using the same stuff I mentioned before.
Have you looked at the Administrator panel yet?

Sorry, doesn't make any sense to me - what are you trying to do?
1. are you talking about the Admin panel and the left column boxes available to a particular admin group?
2. why 'customer'? Why would a customer be looking at your admin panel?
Maybe some straight answers to these will equal a reply that will help.

If it doesn't work via the Admin >> Administrator box area then you'd need to edit the tables in the dbase. If you don't get what to do there, then you're choices are: 1) look at it til you figure it out; 2) employ someone who can sort it out.

Personally I wouldn't do it as I think opening up your Admin panel to 'customers' is crazy and will create more problems than you currently realise.

You can restrict which BOXES appear in the left hand column of the admin - not sure what you mean which columns, there is only one in the admin - by editing file access etc as I mentioned above and as described in the link.
