We have a fashion accessory business, in which each of the products can be made using a number of different fabric types (options), each of which has many possible colours (attributes). But sometimes our suppliers are out of a particular colour. Is there any way that we can temporarily shut off that colour in the cart, turning it back on when the fabric is back in stock?

I see no other way to stop that colour showing that deleting it from every single product in which it is used, which seems very clumsy (and incredibly time-consuming). I hope I am simply overlooking something, and that this functionality is indeed present.

Well, you could rename the attribute to something no-one would pick ... but if you're selling items that require stock maintenance then subproducts would be the better way of going as these can have qty assigned.

Yes, I think renaming might be the simplest way: (Blue - temporarily out of stock). Or use Easy Populate to rip out the unwanted attributes, keep the data on ice until the colour is back, then put those lines back into the database ...
