We are having a bit of trouble getting our head around the tags.

All tags are in place on our products and categories. (We added them in to the appropriate boxes when creating categories and products in admin)
but when looking at the page source on the front end we only see the default title.
We have gone to Design Controls > Header Tags
we have cleared and filled all categories and products but don't seem to have had any luck, we still get the default titles, descriptions and keywords.

Is there something we are missing/not doing?

We are Running CRE 6.2B2B (i know we should probably upgrade!!)

Upgrade f'rsure but here's the thing:

meta tags are a bit redundant now. the title tag is the most useful, description is not worth much and keywords are virtually worthless re seo value.

i'd check the admin >> design >> edit tags area and the ticks in the boxes you have above the different pages. probably not set right, hence the defaults at the top are getting used.

Can you please tell me what the ticks should be set to.

usually if the box is ticked it means override the default - recommend just trying them out, refreshing the page. will depend on where you want the defaults to show too.

Thanks again for your reply and sorry if i sound stupid but i have tried all combinations of ticks on the product_info page i can only get the default tags or none at all.
Is there anything else i am missing somewhere?

What patch of Cre 6.2 B2B are you running? If not 14, then can you update?

where do i get the update from?

From your cre account - assuming you purchased your cart from cre loaded. It may not make much difference, but at least you'll have the latest 6.2 patch.

If you didn't buy from cre loaded, then it'll be an upgrade OR a code comparison with say the free 6.4.1a CE version for example.

No, didn't buy it from a cre account had a developer create the site for us a couple of years ago but he's not contactable anymore.

Thanks for your help so far i am attempting to upgrade to 6.4 to hope will remove the errors but when i try the upgrade i get the following error.

Which upgrader are you using? Are your other databases all with prefixes web163 followed by a hyphen?

i'm using the upgrade option on 6.4ce and yes both db have prefix.

They are named
web163-crenew
web163-creold

So you're upgrading from 6.2 B2B patch 13 to 6.4.1a CE ? Huh?

yeah, trying to.
Possibly may need to upgrade after to pro but initially wanted to see if this meta tag and title issue can be resolved.

Can this not be done from 6.2b2b to 6.4ce then?

yeah meta tags work on 6.4.1a versions ... not sure b2b -> ce upgrade would work ... 150 tables -> 100 tables? would've thought the ce installer would only be setup for 6.2/6.3 ce version -> 6.4 ce version upgrades.
