Is there anyway of using Oscommerce templates in Cre Loaded? It seems like there are a lot more oscommerce templates than cre loaded..

Probably not, depends on the template and how much you want to spend getting it modified. Otherwise, get a version specific Cre one from one of the various template sellers.

I'm new to the set-up of Oscommerce, but I'm curious to know about template alterations. Soundz, you mentioned that these templates can be modified for a fee. How much is the average charge for someone drastically altering the look of the layout?

Dunno ... but my charge will be under it You're looking for a Cre template anyway - bit of a slog converting osC templates.

Really depends on what you want done - if it's really drastic it's probably cheaper to get one custom made from scratch in the long run.

The idea of Cre (I think) is that its a template system, so as long as you're not fiddling around with the functionality of the basecode, a wide variety of how the store looks is possible. If you want jQuery this and ajax that then you're probably better looking at presta or magento ... but there are definite cons with those carts as well!

Keep in mind that as far as osCommerce goes, until some of the very most recent releases, there is no template system.

Such osCommerce "templates" are generally modified carts or cart files, and migrating them to CRE Loaded on an element by element basis can be very time consuming.

On the other hand, block level modifications on a CRE Loaded template can cascade throughout most if not all of the cart with very few changes. Kind of depends on just how fancy you're looking to get..
