Header Image Problems on Template

Good Afternoon

Im hoping I can get some help with a problem thats bugging me, I have done a forum search but never found the answer.

My top header image on 1 of my sites www.tushi.co.uk

The image used to never be big enough on high res monitors like widescreen so you would get a gap at the end showing the background colour looked tacky and cheap.

I made a new image for the site and made it long 1250 thinking it would cut the end off the right hand side to the size needed like my other site fletchmeister.com does but instead it forced the site to be huge ignoring the 80% of screen size in the admin section.

Can anyone help me solve the problem and make it fit all resolutions?

I think i need to get a webdesigner to do some work as im still learning and my work looks very amateur like.

Hi Fletch

I think the gap at the right end is because the width of your store of the template is set to beyond the width of the banner (982px wide) ... also affecting the repeated background on the right too (I'd imagine you'd just want the background pattern once.) Column widths are affecting this too.

You're probably also getting blowback from the site rendering in quirks mode, as the top doctype declaration is missing the second part:
<!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/html4/loose.dtd">

So update main_page.tpl.php with the doctype, check Admin >> Design >> the template >> site width, check all the fixed width images you want to use and how they'll go together and go from there.

Hi Simon

Thanks very much for your advice I appreciate that, I will update the main page template with the Doc Type as you have given me and do some testing then post back how it goes.

I have so much i need to get done with the site so im sure I will be coming back to bug you very helpfull people some more.lol
