I am working on a problem that is apparently very sporadic with a relatively new customer that called me in and paid godaddy for deluxe hosting for a year

We start with:
http://www.pushpinsandfabriccorkboards. ... p-419.html

We click on add to cart
starting at shipping we get:
2013 - Lost connection to MySQL server during query

select countries_id, countries_name from countries order by countries_name

[TEP STOP]

2006 - MySQL server has gone away

select count(*) as total from sessions where sesskey = 'de6cb49347187c0305ccc92b02e6049f'

[TEP STOP]

Warning: Unknown(): A session is active. You cannot change the session module's ini settings at this time. in Unknown on line 0
==================================
This is sporadic - I was reading through looking for these errors - and while they are fairly constant - it is not always - leading me to believe that it is an overloaded machine as opposed to programming issues.

We get more errors logging in to check out - but I'm trying to deal with one at a time.

I have my own dedicated server and tech and normally don't have to deal with others issues - it seems that this is a constant issue although varying in detail from other posts related to GoDaddy - we called them and they referred us to a link related to PayPal/Verisign PayFlow PRO
http://help.godaddy.com/article.php?art ... &topic_id=

but we aren't getting to that point.

This has been working and she has taken orders both via check / paypal & verisign -

Any ideas or thoughts? We are working on just moving her - which is cumbersome with GoDaddy's constrictions on access - but before we do I was hoping that maybe someone else had experienced this same exact problem that might be able to help.

Thank you

Just to update - which of course, doesn't make sense to me - but they are basically blaming code - it "did work" and then it "didn't" -- we are going to be testing this all on our our dedicated server that we maintain ourselves w/o depending on other people to us "what is wrong" - be happy to update if anyone is interested.

you so this won't happen again? THANKKKKKKKKKKKKKKS Diana

Support Staff Response
Dear Sir/Madam,

Thank you for contacting Hosting Support. This issue is caused by the MySQL server connection timing out before your code closes the connection. You will want to close all of your connections once they are used to avoid this issue. Please let us know if you have any other questions or concerns.

Regards,

Joe C.

So it is working again - and we haven't changed anything - flying through like a breeze like it is supposed to - so somethings up with this response I would think.

Hopefully this will help someone else in the future that may have problems.

Have a great day
Lorri Nevil

I don't need to do that - I have my own servers and techs and know every person who is on my server and what they are doing - and have been doing this for 10 years :) - but thanks for the tip - I don't normally outsource my hosting - I do refer customers if I'm too busy though ...but that's only happened once!
