Mike,

Your payment processor should not need to offer that as an option.

You should be able to define a zone (aka Tax Zone) and configure your payment module to only accept orders from within that zone.

Any other users would receive a payment page with a notice that no payment method was available.

Yeah but what he seems to be saying is that he gets charged for ANY invalid address on an order, regardless.
Sounds like a scam to me - not heard of a payment processor charging for a failed order through its own system.

Thank you David -- I'll in check that option out.

Simon,

What I am saying is what is also included in the posting you replied to recently...
i.e.
http://creloaded.org/forum/68/37864.html

Where they state "Or authorization fee is .20 per transaction
The AVS is .01 per attempt."

That is what I have indicated and where our charges come from, in our case it is $0.35 per transaction and .02 for the AVS per attempt.
(Which is what I wrote in my feb 25th post
"Ah! Where we are mis-communicating... it's on me. We are being charged by our gateway the 37 cents versus the payment processor. Sorry for that. These charges are per transaction are no matter what happens with the card. i.e. if it goes through or not.")

I hope it is now clear what I was talking about, so no scam just per transaction fees.

Mike

If you have that many issues with idiots using your store, have you tried using account authorization and switching off PWA ?

Ok, this seems similar to the fees some shippers are charging for mis-delivery due to poorly communicated shipping addresses. Another option is to insert RCI files with some friendly advice to customers into the shipping and payment pages. The insideformabovebuttons call point is pretty handy for this sort of thing..
