Hello,

In cre loaded 6.2 how can I set the email Return-Path so any bounced emails come back to [email protected] instead of [email protected]?

In admin configuration I have set my email address to [email protected] and I have tried both E-Mail Transport Methods SMTP and sendmail but all bounced emails are still going back to [email protected] email instead of my actual email address.

How can I fix this?

thanks

Assuming you have the subdomain @server.domain.com set up, I think you'd need root access and to edit the mail config eg sendmail as described here.

Hi Simon,

I dont have the subdomain server.domain.com set up so im a bit confused, my server tech said I can configure it in creloaded but I still think it can be configured in the server?

Hi John

server.domain.com is a subdomain - it'd have to exist before you could redirect the bounces to it.
It all depends on what you're wanting to send I guess - eg email newsletters, I'd use a 3rd party that has the facility setup like mailchimp. Running a mailserver is a damn nuisance - I use google apps, which means they get to read everything if they want.

Hi Simon, OK thanks for the info, I will try a third party mailing service :)

Sorry John - I didn't read this very carefully ... your bounces ARE going to a subdomain and you're trying to get them to go to the domain? Is all your email getting sent from server.domain.com as well? I wud've thought this has been setup like this as a subdomain is usually something you or the tech would know about in advance. Editing sendmail config file (by them probably) should be one way of getting bounces going to the domain (and relatively simple to do I'd've thought.) Editing through the Cre admin sounds pretty unlikely.

Hi Simon,

I didnt create a sub domain at all, I only created a user name in cpanel but all email sent from creloaded has a return address of the [email protected] not my actual email address which is [email protected]

the techs say they cannot change it, it should be something to be configure within creloaded.

anyway I am now using windows live mail configured with my [email protected] so all bounces are coming back to that.
